The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University, makes one of its most important goals for the 3rd year students of the traditional system and the first three years students in the integrated system to know about the microorganisms that can cause infection to humans such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi and to know the method of their laboratory diagnosis as well as the study of immunology. This is considered one of the basic sciences to study clinical medical sciences in the subsequent years at the faculty. The department also awards MSc and MD degrees in microbiology and medical immunology, and a MSc degree in infection control. In addition, the Allergy and Immunology unit provides diagnostic, treatment and follow-up services for allergy patients of all kinds.
