In implementation of the initiative of His Excellency the President of the Republic "A New Beginning for Building the Human Being", Zagazig University organized today, Saturday, September 21, 2024, a comprehensive medical awareness convoy for Kafr Al-Ashraf village in Zagazig Center, under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Al-Darandali, President of the University, and Dr. Jihan Youssef, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in cooperation with the "Decent Life" Foundation and the Health and Veterinary Medicine Directorates in the Governorate.
The convoy was accompanied by doctors and professors from the Faculty of Medicine under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Anani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Health Policies, and Dr. Amal Atta, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. 980 cases were examined in many medical specialties (internal medicine, endemic, heart and chest, bones, rheumatism, dermatology, ophthalmology, children, pediatric surgery, tumors, and family medicine), and 63 cases were transferred to Zagazig University Hospitals.
Dr. Khaled Al-Drandali, in fruitful cooperation with various parties to implement the "New Beginning" initiative, stressing that the university continues its efforts to support villages and rural areas by sending comprehensive development convoys that include multiple specializations to achieve the goals of the President's initiative in the field of human development.
For her part, Dr. Jihan Youssef, Vice President of the University, pointed out what the convoy provided in terms of awareness programs and seminars in several fields that benefited 130 citizens from the village, as family medicine doctors held an awareness seminar on population growth and its impact on reproductive health, and the College of Nursing carried out a campaign to detect hypertension, and the number of beneficiaries reached 240 cases, and patients were directed to the clinics designated for them, and the College of Agriculture held an awareness seminar on the correct ways to reduce vegetables and fruits.
Dr. Jihan Yousry added: "The Faculty of Specific Education held a workshop on recycling household waste, in addition to a seminar on effective communication and ways to combat rumors. Professors from the Faculty of Law held an awareness seminar on cybercrime and ways to deal with it, and another seminar on the validity of the sales contract and ways to document it.
The Vice President of the University added: "The Health Directorate carried out a campaign to detect diabetes and kidney disease, and the number of cases reached 195 cases. The Family Planning Vehicle also examined the village women and provided them with free treatment, as the number of cases reached 85 cases, in addition to the Veterinary Medicine Directorate examining the animals and providing them with free treatment, as well as vaccinating and spraying the animals, and the number of cases reached 75 cases."
It is worth noting that the convoy's work was organized by Mr. Mahmoud Nasr, Director General of Projects Administration, and a number of workers in the sector. The convoy concluded its work amidst welcome, appreciation, satisfaction, and turnout from the residents who praised the medical and awareness services provided.
